Kanye West Aka Ye was paid 2 million dollars to scam his fan based on social media X but he refused

Kanye West, who now goes by the stage name Ye, said he turned down a $2 million offer to participate in a cryptocurrency scam. The scheme reportedly involved him posting a fraudulent cryptocurrency ad to his 32.6 million followers and claiming that his account had been hacked hours later. By that point, the victim would have lost a significant amount of money.

“I was offered $2 million to scam my community. Those people gave up. I said no and stopped working with the person who offered it,” West said in the February 7 X post.

West was asked to leave station X within 8 hours.

West included a screenshot in his post revealing how the scam promoting a “fake ye coin” would play out.

The offer promised an upfront payment of $750,000 to West for sharing the crypto ad and keeping it running for eight hours, followed by a $1.25 million payment after 16 hours.

“The company asking you to do this is defrauding the public of tens of millions of dollars,” the message reads.

An hour later, West shared a screenshot of a private chat where he asked an unnamed X user to share a “crypto connection” name without a middleman.

The user responded by naming Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and asking for his phone number for West.

Many crypto commentators have commented on this development.

Cryptocurrency commentator Armeanio said West should consider using crypto to sell his merchandise instead of launching a memecoin.

“Celebrity tokens often provide a test for retail,” Armeanio added.

Meanwhile, Crypto Vic predicts that West will not launch a token and is likely just creating buzz ahead of his upcoming album release.

“He’s a brilliant marketer,” said Crypto Vic.

It comes after US President Donald Trump launched the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin just days before he took office in January.

However, just a day after launching and seeing significant growth, the controversial memecoin dropped 38% as his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, launched her own memecoin.

A recent survey shows that many of the buyers of Official Trump and Official Melania memecoin are first-time crypto investors.
