In September 2023, former starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Julio Urias, was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, which he pleaded no contest to. Later in May, he would plead no contest to misdemeanor domestic battery.

The video player is currently playing an ad.

Now, though, the witness video of the exact event that took place has been released after being obtained by the LA Times.

In the video, you can see Urias charge two women from behind, grab one, and pin them against a fence. That woman is believed to have been his wife. Another man tries to pull him away with little success until more step in.

As the people filming the video run up to get a closer look at what is happening, a woman cries in the background as Urias walks away.

Along with the charges brought to him, Urias also had to be placed on 36 months of summary probation, complete 30 days of community labor, and one year of domestic violence counseling.

He was also suspended for 20 games in 2018 for a separate domestic battery arrest

Julio Urias Will Likely Never Compete In MLB Again

Combined with this incident and his previous arrests for similar actions, it is unlikely he will ever make an MLB roster again.

His contract with the Dodgers ended after the 2023 season, making him a free agent. However, he was also placed on administrative leave after his September arrest.

Now, at 28 years old, there’s also a very strong chance that MLB can suspend Urias no matter the verdict because of the domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy with the players’ association.

If that is the case, he would be the first player to ever be suspended twice because of domestic violence.
