Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly attacking a police officer in Los Angeles. According to reports from TMZ and the Daily Mail, several residents in the Studio City neighborhood contacted authorities after spotting Lil Nas X, who was also captured on video striking poses, singing, and placing an orange traffic cone on his head.
Officers from the LAPD arrived on scene just before 6 a.m. and say that Lil Nas X charged at them, prompting his arrest for battery on a police officer. No officers were injured in the incident, according to NBC4.
Following his arrest, Lil Nas X was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose. TMZ reports that he has since been released from medical care and is now in custody at the Van Nuys jail, being held without bail for the misdemeanor offense.
This incident follows a recent health scare for the rapper, who was hospitalized four months ago with partial facial paralysis. Despite his erratic behavior captured on video—singing, clapping, and urging bystanders to attend an imaginary party—Lil Nas X posted to Instagram later that day from home, joking about his situation and assuring fans he was ‘OK.’
Representatives for Lil Nas X and the LAPD have yet to comment further on the incident.
