A famed statue of Wayne Gretzky outside Rogers Center, where the Edmonton Oilers play their home games, has been smeared with feces, with brown smudges all over the face of ‘The Great One’.
Gretzky has come under fire both in his home country of Canada and in its contentious neighbor of the United States for his friendship with President Donald Trump.
Trump has stated on multiple occasions his desire to make Canada the 51st state of America, and his government has placed a tariff on Canadian imports.
The identity of the poop-spreader is unclear, as eyewitnesses to the feces believed it to be excrement based on the smell around the statue.
The intentions of the culprit also are not clear, as political motivations may have played a factor in the indecent act.
Gretzky nor the Oilers have not commented on the poop-smearing.

Trump came out in support of Gretzky during a recent press conference, saying that despite their support in each other that the hockey legend wants Canada to stay a sovereign country.
In the backdrop of the USA-Canada conflict was the countries playing in the 4 Nations Face-Off, with the programs splitting the two meetings in the hockey extravaganza.
Each nation won on the other’s home ice, with Gretzky present for Canada’s championship win with a Connor McDavid goal.
The US and Canada will face again on Sunday night in soccer as part of the CONCACAF Nations League third-place game, the first contest between North American rival since Trump’s second term as President began.
Gretzky played for the Oilers from 1979 through 1988 and has been in the news for non-controversial reasons as Alex Ovechkin gets closer to breaking his all-time NHL goals record.
The Washington Capitals legend currently has 888 career goals, six behind Gretzky.
