LeBron James called out a Texas state trooper after an unusual moment during Saturday’s Texas A&M vs. South Carolina game. A video showed the trooper bumping into South Carolina receiver Nyck Harbor as the team returned to the field at Kyle Field. The moment happened right after Harbor scored an 80-yard touchdown to put South Carolina up 27–3.
As Harbor walked down the tunnel with his teammates, the trooper came from the opposite direction, bumped into him and Oscar Adaway III, then pointed and yelled at Harbor. Harbor didn’t react, but the clip was enough for the consequences.
After that, James saw it and blasted the trooper on X, saying, “That A&M cop needs to be suspended! That was premeditated and corny AF!! He went out his way to start some s–t. Do better man.”
Texas A&M Police later announced on X that they removed the trooper from game-day duty. The Texas Department of Public Safety also stated that its Office of Inspector General will conduct a review of the incident.
James Reaction Made The Issue More Serious
The trooper’s behavior set off a huge reaction online within minutes. LeBron James’s post made the story even bigger and turned it into a national discussion. News outlets quickly picked up the clip, and then, as usual, the sideline moment became a debate about game-day behavior.
The timing added more attention. South Carolina led 30-3 at halftime, but Texas A&M came back with 28 straight points and won 31-30, staying unbeaten at 10-0. Even with the wild comeback, most fans kept talking about the tunnel incident.

The moment raised new questions about how law enforcement should act during games and how officers should move through crowded sideline areas. Some said the trooper started the conflict for no reason, while others noted that Harbor was simply walking with his teammates and didn’t provoke anything.
Both the school and DPS now face pressure to explain what happened. The OIG review will decide what comes next. And for sure, James’ comments added even more attention to the situation.
